Well Big Al is in town. Allan & Penny worked in the same building at the Townsville Port for 6 years and this is the second time he has come to visit us whilst we have been living in Scotland. So Al arrived on Wednesday afternoon and that night Al & I went to Bridge of Allan to watch the fire works on Guy Fox night. On Thursday we woke up and started to drive up to the West Highland way. Our first stop was Trossach Wollen Mill to say hello to Hamish the highland cow, the Doune Castle and then we headed to Rob Roys grave at Balquhidder. We then stopped at Loch Lubnaig as it was so spectacular it would be an injustice not to stop. We had a lunch break at the Green Wellie where Al had the best homemade soup he has ever tried and bought almost everything in the gift shop. We then went through Glencoe and stayed the night at Fort William. We wandered around the quaint little town and then headed to the pub for a good old fashion steak pie & a few guiness. We played a few games of pool and then went to our hotel room. The next morning we went to the memorial at Spean Bridge and then stopped at Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness. We were both starving at this point and had to eat before going down to explore the 900 year old castle. Unfortunately there was no siting of Nessy. After a fantastic morning of Scottish history at the castle we then headed to Culloden Battlefield for a little more.
Then on Saturday we headed to Edinburgh to do the tourist thing and then we went to Murrayfield Stadium to watch Scotland vs New Zealand in rugby union ( NZ won ). Overall it has been heaps of fun hangin out with the Big Al :-)
