Pennyfree Weekend

Penny has gone down to London to catch up with her good friend Claire, or Mot as she's known to some. So as I was Penny free I thought it would be a good time to have a boys weekend. Not what you think though. I had my wee cousin Jordan come up Friday and Saturday.

What did we get up to I hear you ask? Well sadly in the first hour we went to see a waterfall and were racing up the hill back to the car afterwards when he tripped crossing the finishline....which was the carpark. So after his pavement knee interaction there was a bit of blood...but no tears. Good start eh?

It only gets better. 1 hour later we were at the roundabout in Stirling...the big one that is stupidly busy when we felt the whole car shudder. Yup, some silly little girl about 17 years old somehow didn't see me and drove into the back of Penny's poor little car. Fortunately our car wasn't damaged, and no-one was hurt, but the girl was pretty shaken. So in two hours with me he was bleeding and in a car accident. His parents will never let him out with me again! In between bleeding and car accidents we worked on my new flat and stripped wallpaper, we ordered Pizza and played playstatioin....and tackled the Wallace Monument.

Speaking of never being allowed out, this is the first weekend Penny has left me. Of course she picked the weekend that a mad bomber drove his SUV into Glasgow Airport. Not to mention the attempted car bombings in London....did I mention that's where Penny went? London! The weekend the UK gets hit with terrorist attacks!
So she's not allowed out without me from here in. Sigh, well I suppose that's not fair, but seriously...what are the odds? I reckon it's just because she's my girlfriend...sorry fiance, she's picking up on my bad travel habits or luck or whatever you want to call it!
Anyways, here's a few photo's of our boys weekend!

Taking a break on the way up to the Wallace Monument. It's on top of a pretty big hill.

Jordan climbing up the "pretty big hill"

The view of the monument from our new flat, you can kind of see the "pretty big hill"...it's the forrested area.

The Wallace Monument, built in the late 1800's as a tribute to Scotland's national hero..William Wallace. If you've seen Braveheart you'll understand Scotlands love of Wallace.

Because climbing up the hill on the bike wasn't painful enough, then you've got to climb 242 sprial stairs!

Jordan beside William Wallaces sword, yup that sword is about 700 years old. It's also about the same height as me. It's a 66 inch traditional two handed broad sword. They reckon that Wallace would have had to have been about 6 foot 6 in order to swing that bad boy in battle.

After all that effort....we finally made it to the top, it's 220 feet high, so there's a bit of a climb involved!

He'll think twice before being cheeky next time!

What goes up, must come down! We took the offroad option and coasted down some sweet single track through the woods. Jordan even tackled a set of stairs...I was impressed!

So was he!!

A star in the making! We rocked out for a bit with the guitars!

And what boys weekend would be complete without a bit of playstation?
